The best showers. Enjoyed the indoor pool very much. Food portions were descent Buffet Breakfast very nice

We were not at all impressed with the service at the restaurant. We arrived on Friday evening and proceeded to seat ourselves outside of the restaurant. We had to fetch our own drinks at the bar and ask for menus and an ashtray. We went to our room and ordered supper from the restaurant and then went to eat there. When we arrived we still waited long for our food and again we ordered drinks and it only arrived after our meal after us having to remind the waitress. Also the noise in the restaurant was unbearable. First time i went to a restaurant that noisy., We asked for our bill to be charged to our room and again waited long for us to sign the receipt. Following day the same thing happend. We felt somewhat ignored by staff as other tables were served promptly. On the Sunday after checking out we shared our concerns with the manager who took my email and promised to make contact and that did not happen. This is a beautiful venue but I would not recommend this place to anyone because of that terrible service.

Excellent value in an amazing location.

Lovely venue in an amazing location. Rooms are well appointed and comfortable and the restaurant is good value. The breakfasts are very good as well. I have visited South Africa 17 times since 1993 and have stayed at Houw Hoek on each visit - would never miss it out.

Turning right into the hotel from the N2! Great shame that recent flood damage has broken access to the hiking routes at rear ( not the hotel’s fault) but I do hope they soon restore that access.

Beautiful, serene place to relax.

Breakfast was great. From fresh fruit and yoghurts, cereals, pancakes, eggs as you prefer, variety of warm foods to lovely pastries. Beautiful new breakfast area. Light and airy and spacious.

A few cookies to go with the supplied tea and coffee would be appreciated

Service and facilities not what it use to be

Friendly reception Clean and appropriate accommodation Kaybee was an excellent waitress serving our milkshakes and cocktails on Friday

No bin at the playground. Papers and cooldrink tins were lying everywhere Most of equipment is damaged None of the games at the inside play area is working At breakfast we had to search for a waiter and ask for cutlery. Our table was also never cleaned. We took off dirty plates ourself.

The new ground floor units could have had a gate built in the railings of the patio. There is no gate which means if you want to access the lawns and amenities in front of the room you have to walk all the way around the building to get to the front

It was lovely, relaxing and very scenic.

The grounds of the hotel is exceptionally beautiful! Also it was nice that there was a kids play area

How about incorporating some halaal food at the restaurant? For breakfast we had very limited options.

The rolling lawns were a plus for my 3 kids.

The rolling lawns were a plus for my 3 kids. We went there looking to disconnect from our busy lives and we were able to do just that! Beds were comfy so we slept really well.

They could however update their board games. We requested some for the kids but they were missing pieces and the scrabble board didn’t even have a bag of tiles

All in all it was pleasant, but unfortunately we expected more due to the facilities mentioned.

Breakfast was generally good, not great. Not a big variety. The croissants however was great, but it seemed to be low in stock. On Saturday morning it didn't last, and my mom never had any. Monday morning at 9:15am they where already finished and we had to ask for more, although it still had to be baked then and we only received them at 10am (end of breakfast time). Saturday morning when we arrived for breakfast there was a lot of choas and not enough plates etc.

I went there specifically of all the kids entertainment mentioned on their website. However, most of their games (the machines was not working). The table tennis bats are falling apart. There is no air hockey - as mentioned in brochure. Pool was full of bugs and leaves and my son (which is allergic to bee stings) got stung by a bee in the pool. Putt putt needs some serious TLC and there was often not enough balls when we wanted to play. Lastly, the only kiddie channel they had was Disney Junior, however this channel did not work. I phoned reception 3 times (this is every day we where there) and no one ever came to the room to fix it. Got to say, the children facilities was a serious let down! Houw Hoek has a lot of potential, but needs urgent management on certain aspects!

What a lovely family holiday

A beautiful setting! The service was lovely, the rooms were great and the food was EXTRAORDINARY!

The facilities for the children could use an upgrad. Especially the games room. E.g. the website advertises snooker table, squash etc however these facilities were out of order.

overall it was a great stay! i just LOVED the accommodation for my family and i

food was great! enough for all. croissants delicious and flaky but the Sunday morning it was limited probably due to the amount of people

the eggs section- gets very full with long queue. maybe have a bowl of scrambled egg already just to limit time. would have been nice to have other types of pastries also like danishes and scones with grated cheese and cream.

The beakfast was delicious. The environment excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms very comfortable

The booking out time on a Sunday can maybe change to 12:00 to give some guest time to stay for lunch also

Lovely setting and comfortable room

We were not told that the outdoor area was under construction. Was most disappointed as one of the things we were looking forward to most was sitting on the lawn sipping wine while the kids ran around. Was a big spoiler!
